Jacques Vermin Webster II, born on 30th April 1991 in Houston, Texas, USA; is an American rapper, singer, songwriter, and record producer. He is better known by his stage name Travis Scott, which is a combination of one of his inspirations Kid Cudi (Scott Mescudi).
He gained limelight when he signed his first major-label deal with Epic records in 2012 and with Kanye West’s Good Music. In 2013, Travis signed a record deal with T. I’s Grand Hustle imprint.
The same year, his first full-length project, the Mixtape Owl Pharoah was released.
In August 2014, he followed it with a second mixtape Days Before Rodeo. His hit single from the album Antidote gave his career a big hit and was his first to reach the Top 20 of the US Billboard Hot 100 chart.

Early Life And Educational Background
Jacques Bermon Webster (Travis Scott) was born in Houston, Texas. He lived with his grandmother in South Park, Houston from age one through six. Located in South-central Houston, the neighborhood had an impact on him as it was notorious for crime.
He said seeing “people looking weird, hungry and Grimey” have him the edge to get out and made him who he is now.
He later left to live with his parents in Missouri City. His mother, Wanda Webster worked for Apple; while his father , Jacques Webster ran his own business. His father is also a soul musician and his grandfather, a jazz composer. Travis has two siblings, Jordan and Joshua Webster.
He studied at Elkins High School (a private school) and graduated in 2007. Same year, he gained admission at the University of Texas, San Antonio. 2008-2012
After dropping out of college, he moved to New York City to start a career in music; partnered with his longtime friend, Chris Holloway and together they launched the band The Graduates. They released the untitled first EP on social networking website Myspace.
In 2009, Scott with one of his school mates OG Chess, formed the group The Classmates. The group released two projects in 2009 with Buddy Rich and Cruis’n USA in 2010. Travis concentrated more on the production aspect in both projects. The duo disbanded in 2012 due to financial and Personal problems.
Travis Scott within this period faced a lot of financial shortcomings and a temporary low, both professionally and personally. He was left with meagre means to survive when his career was not yet booming.

2012-2014
Travis Scott’s first solo full-length project is a Mixtape titled Owl Pharoah. The project got delayed as fate may have it and was later re-created by Kanye West and Mike Dean. Meanwhile, Scott released the track “Blocka La Fame” which is a remix of fellow GOOD Music Label-mate Pusha T’s single “Blocka”.
Travis released the music Video for a song “Quintana”, set to appear on Owl Pharoah on March 22, 2013. He became a member of XXL’s Freshman Class of 2013, on 27th March. A snippet of his commercial debut single Upper Echelon featuring 2 Chainz and T.I was premiered on 29th March, 2013. “Upper Echelon” was sent to Urban Contemporary radio on April 23, 2013 and released for free download.
In May 2014, Scott performed a new song, “1975” featuring Big Sean, from his upcoming project at the time. On May 5, 2014, he released the full version of the song with a new title “Don’t Play”. On July 11, 2014 “Don’t Play” was officially released as the lead single from Days Before Rodeo. The song was a hit and led him to announce a concert Tour “The Rodeo Tour” with rapper Young Thug and producer Metro Boomin.
The tour which started on March 1, 2015, in Portland, Oregon. The tour ran through cities like Atlanta, New York, Houston, Texas, Denver, Seattle, Michigan, San Francisco, Washington. There were guest appearances from Kanye West, Wale and Birdman.
2015-2016
On September 4, 2015 Rodeo was released by Grand Hustle and Epic records. It included guest appearances from various artists. The album recorded a huge hit and it debuted at number 3 on the US Billboard 200 Chart and number one on the Billboard Rap Albums Chart. The album included two singles: 3500 featuring Future and 2 Chainz, and the second is Antidote.
He released a collaborative single with Young Thug titled Pick Up The Phone. The single reaches number 43 on the Billboard Hot 100 and was certified double platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).
By mid-2016, Travis announced that the title of his second album would be Birds in the Trap Sing McKnight and his third album is Astroworld. He premiered “Birds in the Trap Sing McKnight” on September 2, 2016 which got released on iTunes and Apple Music. The album became Scott’s first number one album on the US Billboard 200. On September 12, 2016, Universal Music Publishing Group signed a deal with him.
2017- Present
Travis performed at All-star Weekend on February 16, 2017 in New Orleans, Louisiana at Champion Square. A month later, he also performed at New Orleans BUKU Music+ Art Project festival.
Apart from working on his third album, he featured on a track from Canadian rapper Drake’s project More Life titled Portland. The song peaked at number nine on the US Billboard Hot 100, becoming his first top ten song as a Featured artist. Scott announced that he would be launching his own imprint, under the name Cactus Jack Records in March, 2017.
He released three new tracks on Soundcloud, “A Man”, “ Green & Purple (featuring Playboi Carti)” and “Butterfly Effect” on May 16, 2017.
