Canopius Group has announced the formation of its Cyber Incident Management Team (CIMT), which will provide comprehensive support to Canopius cyber policyholders around the world in the event of a cyberattack.

The Cyber Incident Response team leaders stationed in Canopius’ worldwide business units are in charge of the service. Brendan Helleman, who spent two decades in the British Army and the UK Ministry of Defence, leads the London team. Ellen Brookes, a former technical support expert at global legal firm K&L Gates, oversees the Sydney team. Steven Wesolek, who has nearly ten years of experience in information security and incident response, will take on the post in Chicago.

Six team members are spread across London, Sydney, and Chicago, offering different skills from backgrounds in cybersecurity, corporate relationship development, and the military, in addition to the regional leaders.Canopius’ CIMT intends to improve insureds’ initial response to cyber threats, lowering recovery time and boosting service quality. The team oversees relationships with specialized services needed to address the consequences of the assault, such as lawyers, data forensics experts, and public relations and reputation professionals. Canopius’ in-house response capabilities allow it to address concerns within hours, whereas outsourced services can take days, according to the business.

“The launch of Canopius’ global cyber incident response represents a significant investment in our capabilities and specialization of our dedicated cyber claims team.” It is another milestone in the expansion of our worldwide cyber portfolio, where the focus is always on providing first-rate services,” said Matt Northedge, Canopius’ global head of cyber and technology. “As the complexity of cyber-attacks grows, insurers and brokers must work even more closely together to manage the consequences of such attacks.” I am thrilled to welcome our new team members, who are already providing considerable value and relief to our growing number of policyholders.”
