The North American COO assumes worldwide responsibilities.
Gallagher Re, a global reinsurance broker, has promoted Mark Hansen to chief operating officer.
Hansen, who will be located in Minneapolis, Minnesota, will report to Gallagher Re CEO Tom Wakefield.
Since 2021, Hansen has served as Gallagher Re North America’s chief operating officer. He spent over 20 years at Willis Re North America as chief operating officer and director of US operations before joining Gallagher Re. Hansen’s insurance career began with E.W. Blanch Co.
“Mark’s experience on the North American executive committee, along with his exceptional leadership, insightful contributions, and commitment to Gallagher Re, make him an ideal candidate for this role,” Wakefield stated in a press release. “We are excited to have filled this position with our existing expertise and leadership.”
Hansen will take over after a transition period with retiring COO Chris Brook, according to Gallagher Re.
Gallagher Re announced the appointment of Jonathan Allard as managing director and head of its newly formed global credit and political risk unit earlier this month. In addition, the company recently announced the appointment of Andres Posada as executive vice president and head of sales for Latin America and the Caribbean.
